Shubman Gill made his entry into the Indian team on the back of his exploits in the Under-19 cricket, including a triumphant run in the ICC Under 19 World Cup in 2018, and in the domestic cricket for Punjab. The stylish right-hander made his India debut in January 2019 against New Zealand in Hamilton. Against the very same opponent, Gill registered his highest ODI score – a swashbuckling 208 in Hyderabad, in 2023. With prodigious talent and sumptuous striking, Shubman Gill notched up memorable knocks at a very young age.
The right-handed batter was instrumental in India’s historic chase and memorable Test victory against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane in 2021. He was also a part of India’s ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 winning side in Dubai. At just the age of 25, Shubman Gill was appointed the Test Captain of India, and he showed immense maturity by leading from the front in his maiden Test series as a Captain. With 754 runs in the five-match Test series against England, Captain Gill stood tall and delivered a performance to remember.
