Sarfaraz Khan’s cricketing journey began with a fierce desire to play for India. Growing up in a cricket-driven family and honing his craft on the maidans of Mumbai, he first burst into the spotlight in 2009 when he smashed a staggering 439 in his maiden Harris Shield match.
A naturally gifted 360° batter with fearless strokeplay, Sarfaraz soon graduated to the international youth stage. He represented India in the 2014 and 2016 ICC U-19 World Cups, amassing 566 runs across both editions. He also has seven fifties across the editions which is the most by a player in U-19 World Cup history. His breakthrough in senior cricket arrived during the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy, where he piled on runs season after season. Sarfaraz became only the third batter after Wasim Jaffer and Ajay Sharma to score 900+ runs in two consecutive Ranji seasons, reinforcing his stature as one of India’s most prolific domestic performers.
His domestic dominance earned him a well-deserved India call-up, and he made his Test debut against England in 2024. Sarfaraz announced himself in style, registering back-to-back fifties in his maiden Test to firmly mark his arrival on the big stage.
Beyond his batting, Sarfaraz has transformed his fitness and sharpened his overall game, showcasing dedication that matches his hunger for big scores. His journey reflects unwavering commitment, and his evolving skillset makes him a valuable asset with the promise of a long, impactful international career.
